Can’t believe September is already over. This month meant getting back into the school routine and starting back at all the after school activities. Also getting over the holiday blues! All that being said we have had a busy fun September. This is what we got up to.
We don’t live too far from London and its only a 45 minute train journey however its always a nice treat to head up to London for a day out. Its been one of those months where everything came at once and I was out in London a few times.
Gin and cake on a bus
First trip was with friends aboard a Routemaster bus for afternoon tea with B Bakery. We enjoyed a bus tour around London while eating a selection of delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones. We opted for the Gin Lovers Tour which included three tasty gin cocktails by Hayman’s Gin. Everyone had a great time, would definitely recommend it!
Riding the wire
The next day I was back into London, this time for a girly day with my mum, sister, Amelia and a family friend. My sister had bought me a ticket for Zip World London for my birthday. It was the biggest, fastest, city zip wire in the world. After climbing what felt like a huge amount of stairs it was a bit scary standing at the top waiting our turn to ride the wire. It was great fun though! We had a race to the other side, which I lost! 🙁 Unfortunately it has just ended for 2017 but definitely worth waiting to see if it returns or checking out their other locations.
We finished the day with dinner in Leicester Square at Cork & Bottle. It had some good reviews on TripAdvisor and it didn’t disappoint. The restaurant is quite quirky being located in a basement at the bottom of a set of spiral stairs. We were seated in our own private cove which was once an old underground prison cell. The menu was quite varied and the food was delicious.
Puttin’ on the Ritz
Next trip to London was for afternoon tea at The Ritz to celebrate my Nan’s 80th Birthday. It was amazing sitting in this beautiful, traditional hotel being served tea in an ornate silver teapot. We all had a lovely afternoon eating and drinking while listening to the piano.
For a completely different experience in London we finished the day with cocktails at the top of Sushi Samba. The view while travelling up the glass lift is pretty amazing, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you are not keen on heights! We enjoyed cocktails outside while keeping warm under a blanket and next to the fire. It was great to share this with my Nan.
Final trip to London was to enjoy Saturday brunch at the South Place Chop House. This bottomless brunch meant that our prosecco glasses were continuously being topped up! The food was very tasty and I would definitely recommend the smoked salmon bagel and the chocolate covered waffles!
The kids had some fun days out with friends visiting South Weald Country Park and Wat Tyler Country Park. Both great spaces to run around, fly kites and play on the park equipment. We also got to relive our youth by getting on some skates and visiting RollaCity! Brought back memories of skating around when I was younger. Another months progress has been made. Scaffolding now covers the house so its a bit of an obstacle course to get to the front door. The old roof tiles are being replaced by new grey ones and insulation is being fitted to the house. The roof trusses have been delivered and the roof on the extension is taking shape.
As always thank you for taking the time to read our September Adventures.
